Project Duration:
Launched May 2025 – trial continues through the 2025–26 growing season
Project Location:
York, UK
Objective:
To measure and compare the ecological benefits of biodiverse turf against standard lawn grass and native hedgerows, providing evidence of its role in supporting pollinators and soil health.
Technology:
AgriSound’s Polly™ solar-powered bioacoustic sensors were deployed across three habitat types to track bee activity and environmental conditions (light, temperature, humidity) in real time.
Key Findings (first 50 days):
🐝 32% higher pollinator activity in Rolawn’s BioScapes® Biodiverse Turf compared with standard Medallion® Turf.
🐝 Demonstrates how turf designed with wildflower and fescue cultivars significantly boosts biodiversity.
Significance:
🐝 First quantitative evidence of biodiversity gains from turf innovation.
🐝 Supports Rolawn’s bioscaping philosophy—landscaping that nurtures life and wellbeing.
🐝 Advances ESG goals by providing measurable, verifiable biodiversity impact.
🐝 Aligns with national biodiversity and climate resilience strategies.
